St. Mark School is proud to be a New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) accredited school.
St. Mark School is unique from other local private and public schools in Stratford, CT. St. Mark School is a 2009 Blue Ribbon School of Academic Excellence situated in the North End neighborhood. We provide an academically rigorous, faith-based education to children in grades Pre-K through 8, including full day Pre-K and Kindergarten. But, that’s not all that makes St. Mark special!
Our Catholic faith is the foundation for our community and the educational initiatives that form the whole child through evangelical values.
Our school day runs from 7:45 am to 2:10 pm. An After School Program is available for all students from dismissal to 6:00 pm – even on early dismissal days.
We offer a full-day Pre-K program. Students must be 3 years old by September 1st to enroll in PreK-3 class and 4 years old by September 1st to enroll in PreK-4 class.

Through our Personalized Learning Initiative, we develop a deep knowledge of every student and personalize instruction to ensure all students achieve both academic and personal goals.

Our small and close-knit school community allows us to get to know our students and their families. St. Mark students and families form long-lasting bonds and meaningful relationships with each other, our teachers and administrators. History of St. Mark Catholic Elementary School
St. Mark School opened on September 9, 1964 with ninety students in Grades 1, 2 and 3. The opening of the school enabled the children of the parishioners of the newly founded St. Mark Church to receive a Catholic education. The school was staffed primarily by the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth from Monroe, Connecticut.
St. Mark School opened Grades 4 and 5 were added in 1965 and Grades 6 and 7 in 1966. In 1967, all eight elementary grades were established with the addition of lay staff. The Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth maintained their presence in the school until 1992. In 1992, the school hired its first lay principal and since then the teaching faculty has been totally composed of lay persons. Currently, St. Mark School serves over 240 students in Preschool through Grade 8 by approximately 35 dedicated lay staff members.
